Cumberland Foreside homes along Route 88 look out over Casco Bay, and many were built to a high standard with large, complex rooflines. Those roofs deserve a careful inspection and a careful install.
Jeff or Aaron does the inspection in person. We get up on the roof, photograph the conditions, and, with your permission, check the attic for decking, ventilation, and signs of moisture. Then we sit down with you and explain what we found.
Along Foreside Road you'll find large shingle-style and colonial homes, many with multiple dormers, valleys, and chimneys. Newer custom homes on the bay side often have steep pitches and big roof areas. Complex roofs like these are where materials such as standing seam and Brava slate or shake make the biggest difference.
Casco Bay takes some of the edge off the wind compared with the open coast, but salt air still reaches the bay side. Big roofs with many valleys are prone to ice dams, so ice-and-water coverage and good attic ventilation matter as much as the roofing material.

When a late-summer microburst tore through the greater Portland area, a tree came down on this Yarmouth home, straight through the roof and into the truss system. This wasn't a shingle patch: it meant working with the homeowner, their insurance company, the town, and an engineer to rebuild the damaged framing correctly. New structural members went in alongside the originals, fresh sheathing closed the deck, and the roof went back together over it. Storm repairs like this are part of what we do, and doing them right means getting the structure right first.

No. Cumberland Foreside is the bay-side part of the Town of Cumberland, so permits go through Cumberland. Confirm current requirements with the town before work begins.
