Frequently asked
Common questions
- Is the drone inspection free?
- No. Drone inspections are a paid add-on. The pilot is a licensed third-party professional we partner with — fully insured, FAA Part 107 certified — and we quote a flat fee up front before we fly. It's the right call for steep, coastal, or three-story homes where ladder access isn't safe or thorough. Our standard in-person inspection (roof, attic, structure) remains free as part of the quoting process.
- Do you skip the in-person inspection if I get a drone flight?
- Never. Drone footage is an addition to, not a replacement for, our hands-on inspection. We still get on the accessible portions of the roof, into the attic, and through any crawl or structural spaces we need to see. The drone covers the parts we can't safely reach.
- Who actually flies the drone?
- A licensed, fully insured FAA Part 107 commercial drone operator based in southern Maine. We've worked with them long enough to know the footage quality and the safety standards are right — and their commercial insurance is what makes residential flights legal and protected.
- What do I get from the inspection?
- 4K aerial footage and stills of every roof plane, ridge, valley, chimney, and penetration; a walk-through with you on what we're seeing; and — if you're moving forward with us — the footage and findings folded into your written quote. If you're using the inspection for a real estate transaction or insurance claim, we deliver a written report.
- When does a drone inspection make sense?
- Steep pitches (12:12+), coastal cliffside homes, three-story colonials, after a storm when walking the roof isn't safe, pre-listing on a home being sold, due diligence as a buyer, and any insurance claim where comprehensive aerial documentation strengthens the file.
- What does it cost?
- Pricing depends on roof size, complexity, and whether you need a written report. We quote a flat fee up front — no surprises — and it's typically a fraction of what you'd spend on a single repair you didn't actually need. Ask for the quote and we'll send it the same day.
